Role Overview

We are seeking a Communications & Media Manager to amplify The New Medina’s presence through strategic media outreach, compelling storytelling, and digital engagement. This role will focus on placing articles in major newspapers, managing social media platforms, and handling membership communications to expand our reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations & Media Outreach:

  • Develop and execute a press strategy to secure features in leading newspapers and cultural publications.

  • Write and pitch press releases, opinion pieces, and feature stories aligned with The New Medina’s mission.

  • Build relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to promote key initiatives.

Social Media & Digital Engagement:

  • Manage and grow The New Medina’s social media presence across platforms.

  • Develop and schedule engaging content showcasing heritage, events, and resident experiences.

  • Foster community engagement through storytelling, interactive posts, and multimedia content.

  • Oversee member communications, ensuring meaningful engagement and regular updates.

  • Craft newsletters, reports, and exclusive content for members and partners.

  • Coordinate special events, partnerships, and outreach initiatives to grow The New Medina’s network.

  • Membership & Community Communication:

Who You Are:

  1.  A creative storyteller with a passion for cultural heritage and historic city revitalization.

  2.  Experience in journalism, public relations, social media management, or digital marketing.

  3.  Strong writing, editing, and media relations skills. 

  4. Ability to craft narratives that bridge tradition and innovation.

  5. Fluent in English (French or Arabic a plus).

Open Position: Manager & Curator in Residence

Location: Onsite opens in 2026
Commitment: Full-Time

Role Overview

The Manager & Curator in Residence will play a key role in managing The New Medina’s residency program and research initiatives, ensuring it remains a hub for cultural exchange, storytelling, and heritage preservation. This role is ideal for Phd student or post-graduate fellows looking to gain experience in North Africa, improve their Arabic and French, or take a writing sabbatical.

Key Responsibilities

Residency Program & Center Management:

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring an inspiring and well-functioning residency environment.

  • Support and guide resident scholars, artists, and researchers in their projects.

  • Manage logistics, schedules, and events within the center.

  • Maintain partnerships with local cultural institutions and stakeholders.

Curation & Research Collaboration:

  • Co-curate exhibitions, publications, and community-based projects.

  • Organize public talks, workshops, and storytelling events in alignment with The New Medina’s mission.

  • Support documentation, and archive research & artists collaborations

    Community Engagement:

  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative atmosphere for residents and visitors.

  • Support local institutional collaborations

Who You Are:

  1. A graduate in anthropology, social science, architecture, history or related fields with a passion for cultural heritage, research, and curation.

  2. You have an experience in hospitality, event management and resaearch

  3.  You have strong leadership and project management skills.

  4.   Passionate about North Africa’s history, languages, and cultural traditions.

  5. Fluent in English  and have knowledge of French and or Arabic 

  6.  Self-driven with a deep appreciation for place-based storytelling and historic city renewal
