The New Medina is nestled within the 1,200-year-old living heritage of Sousse, Tunisia—a vibrant UNESCO World Heritage site. Just steps from the Mediterranean’s African shores, it offers an immersive cultural experience surrounded by rich history and a diverse culinary landscape, from freshly caught seafood to seasonal juices.

Each visit unfolds a new sensory journey, whether through the scent of orange blossoms in spring, the richness of olive harvests, the vibrance of pomegranate and citrus seasons, or the spiritual ambiance of the holy month of Ramadan.

EXPERIENCE COMMUNITY

Residencies

The New Medina Residency Program is a two-week artist residency based in the historic Medina of Sousse. Designed for artists, writers, storytellers, heritage keepers, designers, academics, chefs, entrepreneurs, and creative professionals, the program offers a calm and supportive environment for focused work and meaningful exchange.

Residents are invited to immerse themselves in their practice through dialogue, peer mentorship, and artistic creation. The residency emphasizes cultural heritage, community engagement, and place-based research, and concludes with a public exhibition or a community-based project developed in connection with the Medina.

Each year, The New Medina invites a select group of practitioners to participate in the residency. In addition, a limited number of places are available through on a fee-based basis. All slots are intentionally limited to preserve the quality of exchange, access to space, and individual support.
